Book Boyfriend of May: Noah Hutchins

My Book Boyfriend is hosted by Missie at The Unread Reader, and it's a weekly meme in which you choose a fictional boy that makes your heart all gooey and write up a post for him. For more information, check out the introduction post. For sign ups and Missie's choice this week click here.

Pushing the Limits by Katie McGarry is easily one of my favorite books of the year, and I don't have very many contemporaries on that list, so that's quite a feat! Noah Hutchins just as easily makes the cut for boy toy *cough* I mean, er, boyfriend (that is if Echo doesn't mind my stealing him for this 30-day period) of the month.

Noah is the classic bad boy with the dark, dangerous, intense (chocolate-brown, JUST FYI *swoons*) eyes and the longish (a very important distinction) hair while rocking the leather jacket or jeans and a t-shirt look. He's instantly labeled as a drug-and-girls-user, the stoner kid, but there is WAY more than meets the eye at his sad vulnerable center, buried beneath layers and layers of sarcasm and cynicism. Always the tough guy, always trying to keep it in, refusing to back down or break no matter how difficult the pressure. And when you rip away his ruthlessness? Well, that's when you want to say to heck with your undies because his tenderness makes you insane with desire, ya'll. The boy's mastered the execution of The Smolder.
Guys like Noah Hutchins ticked me off. He used girls, used drugs and had made me feel like crap this morning. Not that I should be surprised. I'd had a couple of classes with him last semester. He'd stride into the room like he owned the earth and smirk when the girls fell all over themselves in his presence. "What a jerk."
As if he heard me from across the room, his dark eyes met mine. His shaggy brown hair fell over them, but I could tell he was looking at me. The stubble on his face moved as he smiled. Noah had muscles, looks and trouble stalking him. Somehow, he made jeans and a T-shirt look dangerous. Not that I was into girl-using stoners. Yet, I took another peek at him while sipping my drink. (6%)
He's smart, sensitive when he needs to be. He's sexy when he's sweet and when he's not, when he's dangerous and fierce.
He kissed me back as he slid his hand over the scars on my arms. "You're beautiful," he whispered against my skin. Noah lifted my arm and kept eye contact as his mouth trailed kisses along the scars. Pure hunger darkened those chocolate-brown eyes. "Kiss me." (58%)
And gawd forbid he kisses the girl, because I spontaneously combust when he... cages and leans and dives in. Oh, boy *fans self*.
Wrapping my arms around her, I walked her backward into the brick. "Tell me you chose me, Echo." (49%)
Noah's hands were everywhere, my hair, my face, my back, and for the love all things holy, my breasts. My hands roamed his glorious body just as greedily. After drugging me with delicious kisses for not nearly long enough, his warm lips skimmed my throat and down the center of my breasts, causing me to arch my back... (58%)
My little nymph's laughter filled my soul. "You're so bad. I'm talking about sleep. Like real sleep. Not sex."
"We don't need to have sex. There are other things I can do to help you sleep." (62%)

Um, so I think I'm about to drop into unconsciousness, perhaps from heatstroke, so I think that's enough, um, quotes for the time being. *snatches up water bottle* Phew. So be sure to check out Pushing the Limits July 31, 2012 coming from Harlequin Teen!

Pushing the Limits
by Katie McGarry
So wrong for each other...and yet so right.

No one knows what happened the night Echo Emerson went from popular girl with jock boyfriend to gossiped-about outsider with "freaky" scars on her arms. Even Echo can't remember the whole truth of that horrible night. All she knows is that she wants everything to go back to normal. But when Noah Hutchins, the smoking-hot, girl-using loner in the black leather jacket, explodes into her life with his tough attitude and surprising understanding, Echo's world shifts in ways she could never have imagined. They should have nothing in common. And with the secrets they both keep, being together is pretty much impossible. Yet the crazy attraction between them refuses to go away. And Echo has to ask herself just how far they can push the limits and what she'll risk for the one guy who might teach her how to love again.
What fictional male can't you live without this week? If ever?

My teen daughter just finished reading (and really enjoyed!) an eBook called Hear by Jacqueline Abelson. Great plot, interesting characters and a real message of self– empowerment. Here’s the link:
