Favorites of My Own Reviews

In a few words: Wrenching, Insightful, and Gorgeously Dark

"Summers’s prose is telling, insightful, and gorgeously dark, uncovering a world in which fate has dealt some a cruel hand. The zombieness? That’s only the HALF of it."

In a few words: Rip-your-heart-out fabulous

"When I’d requested Tiger Lily by Jodi Lynn Anderson, my reason had more to do with it being an interesting-sounding retelling than anything else. Books have a way of making a concept or a story you once found uninspired into something that inspires you. That inspires you to be careful with others, and their presence in your life, and to love with your whole being, without restriction, without fear. Tiger Lily by Jodi Lynn Anderson accomplished that, and I treasure it even more because it’s power caught me by surprise. Sometimes when you look for things too hard—in my case, That Perfect Book—you lose sight of the gems really sunk in places that are almost imperceptible. Then when you least expect it, they drop into your lap because you put it there without thinking—they find you."

In a few words: A thorough, thrilling, exciting beginning

"I love thick, tension-filled plot that either sparks and blows or cooks on slow fire, and I love fabulous setting and world-building. Not to mention, PACING. These are all vital elements in a book, BUT it’s the characters that can make or break or save a book. Whatever I felt when I started Something Strange and Deadly by Susan Dennard DOUBLED when I met the amazeballs Spirit-Hunters staying to weed out Philadelphia’s zombie epidemic. When you meet them, you will love them for their skills, their voices, and their personalities as a whole. "

Unfortunately, this month was too hectic for me to hop by very many blog posts so this list would've been longer otherwise. As it stands, I only have what I noted in the very beginning of the month. Still, these reviews ARE amazing and then some.

Got something specific in mind? Dare I believe I might NOT have covered something you wish to know? If so, let me know down in the comments section. Don't be shy!
