The main character from THE FALSE PRINCE is an orphan boy named Sage, who is normally sarcastic, defiant, and always looking out for numero uno. But just this once, in honor of our lovely host, Asher Knight, and her birthday – the following is a list of birthday wishes from Sage…
The Party Begins:
Sage believes in arriving in style. He suggests searching out the party location in advance and finding a way to sneak in from the roof, then descending from a rope right onto center stage. The guest of honor should always be the center of attention.
The music should move and make a person want to dance. Any musician attempting to lull the guests to sleep should have his instrument stolen, filled with syrup, and returned to him covered in bees. Sage volunteers to do the prank, should it become necessary. Even if it’s not, he’ll probably do the prank anyway, just because.
Unfortunately, Sage’s country is landlocked, but he has seen the open sea before and felt the beaches there were the finest of anywhere he has been. He has watched the great waves crash into the shore and believes it would be a wonderful adventure to try riding a wave someday. If only there were a way….
Guests of Honor:
The one with the birthday is the guest of honor. Therefore, any invited guests are just lucky to spend time with her. Sage suggests close friends and family only. Everyone else just sucks valuable time away from the people who matter most. Also, beware that no enemies creep in. Because then a sword fight will almost inevitably break out, and that always ruins a good party.
Blowing Out the Candles:
As far as Sage is concerned, no birthday meal should ever be refused. He would love to split a cherry pie for blowing out the birthday candles. Actually, he’d like to give Asher her choice of desserts and keep the cherry pie for himself.
Sage would give a gift made of gold. He would prefer if nobody asks whether the gift had been stolen. Seriously, don’t ask.
Most of the surprises in Sage’s life have had terrible consequences. Sage loves creating a good surprise for others, but isn’t much interested in being surprised. Not anymore.
And a Wish for the Upcoming Year:
Sage would wish for Asher a year of great adventure, wonderful friends, and a continuing journey of becoming everything she is meant to be. If there’s any time left, then let it be found in a great book. He has a suggestion in mind, if she is interested…

THE FALSE PRINCE is the thrilling first book in a brand-new trilogy filled with danger and deceit and hidden identities that will have readers rushing breathlessly to the end.
In a discontent kingdom, civil war is brewing. To unify the divided people, Conner, a nobleman of the court, devises a cunning plan to find an impersonator of the king's long-lost son and install him as a puppet prince. Four orphans are recruited to compete for the role, including a defiant boy named Sage. Sage knows that Conner's motives are more than questionable, yet his life balances on a sword's point -- he must be chosen to play the prince or he will certainly be killed. But Sage's rivals have their own agendas as well.
As Sage moves from a rundown orphanage to Conner's sumptuous palace, layer upon layer of treachery and deceit unfold, until finally, a truth is revealed that, in the end, may very well prove more dangerous than all of the lies taken together.
An extraordinary adventure filled with danger and action, lies and deadly truths that will have readers clinging to the edge of their seats.
