Rescued by a stranger.
Haunted by a secret.
Sometimes, love isn’t easy…

He always saw her, but never knew her. Until thanks to a chance encounter, he became her savior…

The attraction between them was undeniable. Yet the past he’d worked so hard to overcome, and the future she’d put so much faith in, threatened to tear them apart.

Only together could they fight the pain and guilt, face the truth—and find the unexpected power of love.

Review: Like you, I’ve read self-published books that get turned into something worthy of high praise which attracted the pubs. I’m always glad for them, the authors, but not always do I feel inclined to try it for worry that it’s going to be buckets of CRAP anyway. Which is harsh, but my mind is a dangerously uncensored place (here’s where I’d make a Fifty Shades crack if I’d actually read the books, but I want you to know I’m also mildly judgmental up here *taps temples*). I’m so very happy that Webber unknowingly said SHOVE YOUR SKEPTICISM with this amazing story within the pages of this book. That’s right, Easy by Tammara Webber is probably the only contemporary romance book that has made it to my top 20 books of the year. Unless, I read something by Stephanie Perkins this year, I can’t remember. Oh, but this book is so comfortingly real, with a likeable main character that is smart, that grows, and who doesn’t shy away from sex (this is a big one!), with a love interest so scarred and hurt you’d be surprised by how wonderful and sexy he is. He BREAKS A GUY’S FACE when it’s necessary, has kissing and naughtytimes skillz that would make many a YA bros weep with envy; he’s a BAD BOY who gets STRAIGHT As. They just don’t make ‘em like him anymore, all dangerous and intelligent and yummy.

Oh, the kissing. MY WORDS CAN’T EVEN. The pages and pages of explosive heat are so stuck on my mind right now, and in typical Asher fashion, I of course must overemphasize this before jumping onto anything else. They’re so perfectly descriptive and delectable, and gosh I want to rub his tattoos. That’s right. HE HAS TATTOOS and a LIP PIERCING. Try not to combust all over this review, unless you plan to clean it up after you buy this book. That cover does not do this man justice. But, Jacqueline. And Erin. And even drunkish Maggie. Jacqueline has been fighting back pain over her breakup with longtime boyfriend when she’s attacked and disarmed by a drunk off his butt frat boy—her ex’s nemesis, coincidentally. The first few pages of this are so scary and stark without feeling like you’ve transported into a nightmare. When I mentioned that Easy by Tammara Webber feels so real, in moments like the beginning, it hits home because Webber writes the scene so that it feels accessible to you, in that she makes you feel like it could happen to anyone instead of a random horror that attacks some poor ill-fated soul. (Serious caution is key, ladies.)

But this encounter isn’t all that defines Jacqueline. Even when all the RUBBISH IS PILED ONTO HER LIFE, she doesn’t recline into herself, but starts being proactive about her life, about getting over her ex, preparing herself for a recurring incident in case, getting back on track in school. She lets herself realize so much about herself, mistakes and positives, that she’s able to visibly learn and adjust, and I LOVED THAT. Together with her loyal best friend, Erin, she starts making better decisions and opening herself to more awesome possibilities, in love and outside of that. She allows herself to be who she wants and was prior to the break up.

For a contemporary book, excuse my snark, the plot is actually decent. I love contemporary romance as much as the next head-in-the-clouds romantic, but the plot is oftentimes more made of fluff than anything else. In Easy by Tammara Webber, there’s some substance there. It’s not just about Jacqueline’s character growth, but the mystery of Lucas and his past, and also fighting back when something horrific as rape or date-rape occurs and people are doing their best to silence you. And out of this shape, a villain arises so that there’s threads of fear. But, mostly this is a romance book, and it’s a strong, fleshed-out one, that begins with immeasurable attraction and flows into something deeper. Disengage from that overly dramatic cinematic back cover and synopsis, because Easy by Tammara Webber is a lot less about hysterics and more about love and healing.

Most Likely to Be Enjoyed By: This one isn’t so much about issues as I thought. It’s more about overcoming them and sharing them as opposed to wallowing or dealing with them. But if you like a strong romance between a boy with an edge and an average girl with a touch of issue content, then you’re sure to get into this.

Content Warning: Goodness, I almost feel it’s my duty to NOT warn you about the naughtytimes in this book, but my conscience says to do it. Keep in mind that this is a coming-of-age YA/Adult crossover, so the content may be too explicit for younger readers. There is active partying, drinking, and mentions of drug use. And there is a happy plethora of sexual encounters, though don’t gag yet because it’s not cheeseballs or annoying. It’s hot, so hot.

Blog Rating: Perfect Bed Partner
In the most inappropriate way you can imagine (or can't), PBP books are the books you want to tangle in the sheets with they're so bloody brilliant.

Goodreads Rating: 5 out of 5 stars

Favorite Quotes/Scenes:

“You have a freckle here,” he whispered, sweeping his tongue over a spot just under my jaw. “It drives me crazy every time you’re above me. I just want to do this…” The gentle draw of his mouth pushed me over the edge, and my knees tightened around his hips as I rocked against him.

I guessed that the rose tattoo was a possible clue, given its placement over his heart. Most of the ink on his arms consisted of symbols and intricate motifs, and I wondered if any of these were his own design. He shifted onto his back then, and I could finally read the words on his left side.
Love is not the absence of logic
but logic examined and recalculated
heated and curved to fit
inside the contours of the heart

I needed no more proof to know that somewhere in his possibly not-so-distant past, Lucas had loved someone, deeply. Someone he must have lost.

This sounds soooo like my kind of book. I love that you feel like it isn't as much about issues (because I usually hate those kind of books - they make me way too sad), but about the romance that helps them get over their issues. Aaaaargh, I definitely need to read it ASAP. Need some New Adult love again. ♥

I LOVED THIS!! Easy definitely exceeded my expectations. I bought the ebook, did a gushy review, and ran out to buy the hard copy on Nov. 6. Loved Lucas, loved the story and plot--which was like you said, totally present and not at all fluff--loved Webber's writing. Especially the romantic and naughty bits ;) Nice review!

Oh. My. God. THIS REVIEW. You know, I've seen like a hundred of gushing reviews for this already and don't get me wrong, they've all made me want to read this so so bad, but YOURS WAS JUST PERFECT. I can't even. I want to dive into all those kissing scenes and naughtytimes and the characters sound so amazing and my main worry was that it WAS an issue book, because I am always incredibly wary around those. However, the fact that it's about overcoming them and hearing that Jacqueline is so strong and Lucas is like the perfect bad boy is making me want to scream because I haven't read it yet! Absolutely fantastic review, Ash! <3 I really, really need to get my hands on a copy of this now x)

Wow, you make the sexytimes sounds so hot. I am intrigued :D I've only heard the BEST things about Easy and though I haven't got round to it yet, will definitely be reading in the near future when it publishes here in Australia which by my calculations, come out February 2013 so not that far away considering all the book out there that keep piling up and releasing daily. Lucas sounds like my kind of book boy - a little bad, badass, messed up but amazingly sexy and he's a smartie! And our leading lady sounds like a great character especially considering everything she goes through. I am constantly reading epic, glowing reviews of this book weekly but not all of them do it as well as you have so kindly demonstrated above so hat's off to you, amazing Asher!
