My Big, Fat TBR Pile [21] aka (sort of) Waiting on Wednesday (and every other day)

There's a common theme running like a track star through Paranormal Indulgence: obtaining books by the look of the cover instead of on merit or substance. Don't give me that look. I'm not changing for you. I'm terminally superficial. The good news is that because this blogger is a self-proclaimed cover whore, your eyes will never come across anything wanting. Come join me in staring. Then, thank me after.

(Like most people, I never fail to show off my dazzle-inducing desires every Wednesday. I was sick so HAVE MERCY.) (More)

The past few years have held more surprises than part-angel Clara Gardner could ever have anticipated. Yet from the dizzying highs of first love, to the agonizing low of losing someone close to her, the one thing she can no longer deny is that she was never meant to live a normal life.

Since discovering the special role she plays among the other angel-bloods, Clara has been determined to protect Tucker Avery from the evil that follows her . . . even if it means breaking both their hearts. Leaving town seems like the best option, so she’s headed back to California - and so is Christian Prescott, the irresistible boy from the vision that started her on this journey in the first place.

As Clara makes her way in a world that is frighteningly new, she discovers that the fallen angel who attacked her is watching her every move. And he’s not the only one. . . . With the battle against the Black Wings looming, Clara knows she must finally fulfil her destiny. But it won’t come without sacrifices and betrayal.

In the riveting finale of the Unearthly series, Clara must decide her fate once and for all.

Why I'm Going to Read It: Ok, so when the absolute last moment of Hallowed by Cynthia Hand fell upon me, I reacted no better than this:

I was heartsick, stomachesick. I couldn't keep a slice of cheesecake down, which is just a sure sign that all is lost. I NEED to know if this feeling in the pit of my belly, which hasn't left since last year, is going to be a permanent resident there, that all REALLY is lost as far as Clara and Tuck go. I hope Hand makes the right choices from here on out, otherwise I'll be paying her a visit in South California. That's right. I know where you live, Cynthia. I know how to google. WATCH YOUR PRETTY BACK.

(From my review of Hallowed. Stick figures made by my incredible hands.)

INFANT RELEASETaking a closer look at my TBR, this book is heading the list of fresh releases I need to read.
DUNKED IN DUSTThis section of my TBR focuses on a much older release I can't wait to read.

OMG. PLEASE. I WILL DO ANYTHING. Naughty favors, charred chocolate chip muffins, my soul, ANYTHING. I NEEEEEED IT.

I know, Cait. I promised. Pinky sweared.

Well, I'm all tapped out of anticipation and things, so you do the talking. I could use a break.

Got something specific in mind? Dare I believe I might NOT have covered something you wish to know? If so, let me know down in the comments section. Also, tell me if you're excited to see me posting these again, because I'm self-obsessed and would like to know. Then, you may tell me what you're desperate for.

EEPS! I totally agree with you! Although I'm only half-way through Hallowed, it was like, WHAT ARE YOU DOING CLARA. WHAT ARE YOU DOING WITHOUT TUCKER?

And, oh, my gosh. I'm kind of dying (understatement) for Through the Ever Night but my budget's still low from Christmas shopping. I WILL DIE IF I DON'T READ MORE ABOUT PERRY AND ARIA.

And the stick figures. Oh, the lovely stick figures. c:

Um, I still want to be friends but I kind of like Christian and don't really get the Tucker love? (ducks and hides) But that means he's all yours and we won't fight about him!

You did promise you did you diiiiiiiid. Your posts always always make me laugh. Right now my bf is looking at me like "why you so weird?" Also, you should sell your art on street corners in Paris. It is that good.

I hope you love On the Jellicoe Road - it's an emotional read, and if you think the beginning is slow or confusing, JUST KEEP GOING! ;)

I need to read Under the Never Sky so I can get to the sequel, STAT!

Hi Ash, remember me? <3

Okay, how am I dying for these sequels when I HAVEN'T EVEN READ THE PREVIOUS BOOK? Like, I've read Unearthly but not Hallowed for reasons that are unfathomable since I ADORED it. And so far, I am totally with you on the Tucker situation but apparently I will be SWAYED in Book 2? UM, NO, HOW COULD I LEAVE MY BABY TUCKER FOR THAT LOSER?! And Under the Never Sky. Sooooooon I will read it, SOOOOON!

And don't even get me started on Melina Marchetta. I... have no excuse. Like, none.

Hope you get to read this SUPER SOON! Happy reading! :)

*waves* Have missed you!

Ash!! Jellicoe Road! You HAVE to read it. It's one of the most moving and perfect books I have ever read. Also, Boundless! I am really looking forward to that one too. Though I have to admit that Tucker is the main reason...

Noooo! Clara is better off with Christian. YES, I WENT THERE. Well, she will be, once they've built a proper relationship that's not all I'm-obssessively-dreaming-about-you-and-sort-of-stalkering-you-a-bit, because that's very unhealthy. Tucker is cute, yes, and fun, but he is Clara's past. Clara needs to fully accept her angelic heritage and purpose, and adorable as Tucker is, he's not going to help her do that. Christian is the man for that.
Also, Jellicoe Road! Yesyesyes you must read this. Because it is BEAUTIFUL.

I was just SO DARN FRUSTRATED. With all the crying and ALL THE EMOTIONAL THINGS and the Tucker and Clara business... I'm surprised I haven't grown into an obese meatball from all the cheese cake binges I've been on since then. (Yes, I'm blaming this book for all of my poor dieting choices.)

THANK YOU. Someone understands the toll Christmas takes on a person's very sparse wallet insides. BUT I WILL DIE FIRST.

I need to start drawing more again xD

But then... you pose an interesting perspective. I thinkyou just saved yourself from having cheesecake flung at you, which would've inevitably lit my short fuse and caused me to attack. One must not simply waste cheese cake.

I SO diiiid. In fact, I'm bringing it with me for vacation. SUCCESS, I make you laugh! And JUST WHO IS YOUR BF TO JUDGE YOU? I always dug the starving artist motif and one of my long list of lifelong dreams is to go all over Paris. Perhaps if I *smacks hands together* combine the two, success will be imminent!

Princess Ash said...

I think that's what I'm most fearful of, BUT I loved Finnikin of the Rock and it was deeply emotional so... I WILL GO ON. I PROMISE YOU.

Sonia, WHAT AN UBER SILLY QUESTION. <33 I've so missed you, bro.

BECAUSE YOU ARE AWESOME AND UNDERSTAND THEIR SIGNIFICANCE, DUH. What the hades DO YOU MEAN when you say you've never read Hallowed? WHAT THE CRAP, SONIA, GET ON THAT! And no nooooo you will not be swayed in book two, darnit. Whoever says so LIES. *hisses*

Like, none, indeed. 'Tis irrelevant if I had my first taste of her writing not more than two months ago. And our hopes ARE AS ONE.

How were your holidays, my darling Sam? <333333333
So many hearts for you because you're a UK girl, OBVS. It's the accent I'm sure you have but have not heard. xD
